Nursing seminar held
ITANAGAR, Mar 24: A seminar of 1st batch of general nursing midwifery (GNM) of Arunachal Institute of Medical Science (AIMSH) was held at seminar hall of Arunachal State Hospital Naharlagun recently. The seminar was organized by AIMSH in collaboration with Arunachal State Hospital (ASH) Naharlagun. Speaking on the occasion Dr R D Kirme, Chief Medical Superintendent, ASH stressed on the importance of practical training in Nursing. He also suggested the trainees to maintain discipline and punctuality. Kirme also assured that the state hospital will closely monitor and guide the training activities and ensure quality training imparted to them. Sharing problems faced by the institute, Managing Director of AIMSH T K Tara said more needs to be done to improve the institute’s infrastructure.

Training of polling personnel held in Chongkham
NAMSAI, Mar 24: A hands on and intensive training programme was conducted for the designated Sector Magistrates, Micro observers and presiding and polling officers for ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections at the Pali Vidyapeeth Chongkham on March 23.
Addressing the 300 officials Ravi Jha, ADC cum ARO explained the new amendments and changes of Election Commission of India guidelines and appealed everyone to go to the polling stations and perform their duties in a confident manner to ensure free, fair and error free election. He also stressed that everyone should be very alert, firm and impartial during the poll process. He also said the Administration has left no stone unturned but everyone involved should do their duties with utmost sincerity for free and fair elections.

AALO, Mar 24: Raid and seizure of illegal liquor continues at different locations of Aalo township and adjoining villages by the Liquor Monitoring Team and Flying Squad team. The team led by Magistrate Lobsang Tsering, Superintendent of Tax and Excise Teli Ngomdir along with police personnel and excise officials seized 82 litres of beer and 50 litres of IMFL from Bene, Pobdi, Pangkeng, Pessing and Jini villages. Meeting on MCMC’s role & function held
YUPIA, March 24: The role of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) was discussed in a meeting held at DC’s office, Yupia yesterday. During the meeting, the DC Ashok Kumar discussed the concept of MCMC in details and also briefed the members on their role as part of the Committee.

Of the 173 candidates, whose nominations were found valid, partywise breakup of candidates is Indian National Congress (60), Bharatiya Janata Party (47), Nationalist Congress Party (10), People's Party of Arunachal (19), Naga People’s Front (11), Aam Admi Party (1) and Independent (25).

Anjaw gearing up for elections
ITANAGAR, Mar 24: Anjaw district authority gearing up for the April nine simultaneous elections has conducted several rounds of training for sector officers, sector magistrates, micro observers, EEM teams, flying squads, SST, MCMC, VVT, VST, presiding and polling officers and support staff at Hayuliang and Hawai since February 27 under the supervision of Nodal Officer (Training). The final phase of training will be conducted on March 30.
Anjaw District Election Officer (DEO) Duly Kamduk appealed all to work with sincerity, dedication and pay special attention during the training sessions so as to avoid error on the date of polling.
The flying squads and static surveillance teams are in action in the district since March 7 and have so far seized 66 bottles of IMFL. Rs.9,350 was also realized from traffic as fine for violation of various sections of MV Act during checking.
CCTV cameras have been installed in IMFL wholesalers located in the district and the Liquor Monitoring Team (LMT) with Tax & Excise Team is on the vigil.
One Company of B/119 Bn CRPF from Jorhat and one Platoon of 1st IRBn Personnel have been already deployed in the district for smooth conduct of election.
As of today, 134 licensed fire arms have been deposited in Police station, Khupa, Hayuliang with the last date to deposit firearms on or before March 25.

ITANAGAR, Mar 24: NHPC’s Subansiri Lower HE Project under its Corporate Social Responsibility
and Sustainable Development Scheme (2013-
This facility would initially be made available to the cleft patients of Lower Subansiri and West Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh and Dhemaji and North Lakhimpur districts of Assam. Under this initiative, the project in its quest for cleft free surroundings took its first step wherein 10 children from Dhemaji district were flagged off along with their parents today afternoon to Operation Smile’s Comprehensive Cleft Care Centre, Guwahati for plastic surgery. The second batch of 20 patients of Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts will move on March 26 for the surgery.
All expenses of the hospital along with boarding, lodging and logistic expenses would be borne under NHPC’s CSR and SD Scheme.
Flagging off the bus carrying 10 children accompanied by their parents, NHPC’s Subansiri Lower HE Project Executive Director Rakesh stressed that all stakeholder districts adjacent to the project would be made cleft free within 4 to 5 years and the expenses would be covered by NHPC Ltd. under its CSR & SD Scheme.

It’s a shame for democracy
Best part of democratic system is holding of election, whereby citizens are given chance to elect leader of their choice. There are numerous countries across the world where people struggle to get such democratic form of governance. Arunachal Pradesh being part of Indian union, we have option to elect our choice of leader whenever elections are held. The tribal community of state who are known to be fiercely independent has always prided itself for actively participating in every election process.
However much to the discomfort of independent thinking citizen, six MLA candidates
all hailing from Congress party are going to win unopposed. The candidates include
Pema Khandu(Mukto), Tanga Byaling(Nacho), Punji Mara(Taliha), Bamang Felix(Nyapin),
Mama Natung(Seppa West) and Takam Pario(Palin). There are reports that backdoor negotiation
is going on in various other constituencies and we may witness more Congress candidates
winning unopposed. Such trend does not augur well for democracy and it may lead to
dictatorship. The MLAs who get elected unopposed will have no fear of anti-

This is with reference to the news item published on 23rd March regarding seizure
of arms, ammunition, liquor and cash by flying squad member. My dear would be leaders
of Arunachal Pradesh for what purpose this huge number of arms, liquors, cash, and
illegal items are required so urgently in this time of the election? Is there any
conspiracy or strategic plan in the minds of our future leaders to create a "RESERVE/BACK-
I really doubt whether police stations of district has such number of weapons which is being sized these days from public. Our leaders are deviating to the ideology of criminality, but remember people of state are not “disposal items." I would like to tell our leaders that, "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction".
